A Birds Eye View of the Centre

Sunday, November 15, 1992 marked the Official Opening of the Wild Bird Care Centre's
new home.  It sits proudly amongst the trees at Stony Swamp...a beautiful tribute to all the
individuals, businesses and government agencies who contributed their resources and volunteer
time to help construct the Centre. We hope you enjoy the photo tour of this most amazing place...

In summer the forest around the Centre provides a cooling canopy and in the autumn the area is painted with colour.   The path leads to the front door and is where all birds - and their rescuers enter!

The admission area - often overflowing with rescuers and birds in June, July, and August.

Feeding 4,000 mouths a year requires extensive culinary expertise...our "chefs" have a fully equiped kitchen to prepare the daily menus...

You'll find everything in our fridges from fresh berries to mouse bits!

Artwork graces many of our walls, this particular triptych details the plight of a bird reeling from an impact with a car.

The Lance Holden Memorial Wall pays tribute to departed loved ones in whose name memorial donations have been made.

Our ' Friends of the Centre" wall recognizes those special individuals who keep on amazing us with their dedication through monthly financial donations.

The"incubator" room is where our baby orphans are tenderly cared for...they re often matched up with other little guys, sort of the room-mate approach to housing!

The surgery...enough said!

You probably think that our raptor room would consist of giant flight cages...while we do have two large flight cages most of the caging is designed to house very sick, very injured owls, eagles, and hawks.  Minimal contact, and quiet are the order of the day in this room.

Our main indoor flight cage lets us check out the flying ability of those ready for release.  The view is beautiful looking out at the forest beyond...hopefully inspirational for those housed here!

The Centre looks just as beautiful in winter as other
times of the year - surrounded by hiking and ski trails
we are never lonely and visitors are always welcome!
