Birds need you this giving season
Your gift can save more than one life
This year, the Centre is challenged to raise funds for both its operations and the construction of its new facility. Being constructed in phases as funding allows, the new Centre may not be completed in its entirety before the start of the busiest season.
Found on a rescuer's property after it suffered a painful crash landing likely due to the confusion of nighttime lights, this Common Loon came to the Centre very thin and with a serious head injury including concussion symptoms affecting its sight, as well as soreness and injuries in its legs. Unable to move or fly, this Loon would have been an easy meal for a predator overnight. Each day in our care the Loon became a bit stronger, louder, and ate more fish!
Due to the limitations of our current temporary location, the Loon needed to be transferred to another rehabilitation centre to complete its rehabilitation. With the construction of our new facility, in the future, more will be able to be rehabilitated on site rather than transferred.
